Fontys University of Applied Sciences is seeking internships for students

The Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, offers a bachelor program in orthopedic engineering (prosthetics, orthotics and orthopedic shoe engineering) (P&O –OSE). The team of professors and lecturers of orthopedic engineering is keeping continuously the curriculum up-to-date and revise aspects to improve the curriculum. One of the important parts in the curriculum is the internship/placements for the third and fourth year students.

“Gaining international experiences and experiencing how the profession is performed in countries other than The Netherlands is becoming of more importance for our students”, says Cojanne Kars from Fontys. “It is for this internationalization reason that we are looking for internships abroad. By fostering international and intercultural competencies, graduates will enjoy an advantage in the professional market where these competencies are becoming increasingly important indicators of success.”

Fontys is looking for placements for third year students for the period in May and June in 2017. This internship of eight-weeks is focusing on technical and production skills and the first orientation with dealing with clients. The fourth year placements will take place from September 2017 till January 2018 and is a total of 20 weeks’ internship. The focus of this internship will be on the clients and a less on production skills.

In the future, Fontys would like to organize possibilities to exchange students. Therefore, they are not only interested to send their students abroad but also create placements in The Netherlands, either at the university or at selected orthopedic service suppliers. This exchange program concerns not only the clinical placements/internships but also for study- and research possibilities. Fontys is involved in a lot of research projects in which also other institutions or companies can play a role in.
